A day in the life of me at work

I love a good sleep like the next person, who doesn't, what I don't like is having little to no sleep on account of my brain not switching off for work.

My 2.33 (yes its that exact, used to be 3.33 but why wait till 3.33 when you can be awake at 2.33, oh and it's AM as if you needed to be told!) anyway, my 2.33 brain is so proactive I have positive conversations with my team (just the ones that need it, you know - why wasn't this done, how much longer do you think this will take as I've already asked you 12 hundred times in the last month, what do you think you need to do, ARE YOU EVEN AN ADULT??

My official time to start is 7am but why wait until then hey, I like to start my glorious day of work at 6.30am, I convince myself it's so I can have some down time before everyone gets in, but that never happens.

7am is the allocated time for everyone to start ringing in with their ailments and excuses, I mean to tell me they're sick. Sadly I pretty much know everyone's numbers off by heart yet I still feign surprise when they call.

Today 7.01, I answer and get told with laughs "I'm not coming in today". I ask why with curiosity, because that's the in word at  the moment, to be told "Well the appointment that I left early for on Friday was running late and I was supposed to go and get bloods taken but when I got there a woman was there with 4 kids and well I didn't want to wait. So I'm going today".

Right, because you're too lazy to wait you're taken the whole day off for something that you already left work for early on Friday.

I wanted to say instead because I can't say anything but "Thanks for letting me know hope you're ok for tomorrow".

7.04 second sick call of the day, I felt this was genuine.

7.33 I walk round the corner to find a member of staff that's been SIGNED off sick ready to work, the very same person I told on Friday YOU CANNOT WORK. After 20 minutes of explaining again and again and again why this person can't work he left begrudgingly, and also annoyed being told he'd have to use annual leave in place of sick leave because he has no sick leave. Because even though I've told him a million times he's not taking 6 weeks off next week he nod and replies Yes you have told me but that's what I want.

Well mate I'd like a fully functioning team and a a 3 week holiday every month, it aint happening.

Is it too much to ask that people just do their job??

Sigh. Rant over

Meanwhile I'll get back to the emails about a broken chair, hearing kits and tables being moved, Because for some reason that's my job.
